2021 Fire Department Summary

Happy New Year!!
The Chester Volunteer Fire Department is truly an all-volunteer Fire Department, receiving no compensation for our time. The Fire Chief receives a salary for administrative duties by law, but is not paid for responses to emergencies. COVID has been a large part of our responses this past year and require us to take extreme precautions with protecting ourselves as well as the people we serve. It also requires us to take extra time to sanitize and get the latest in training to keep everyone safe. Here is a brief overview of our activity for 2021.

We responded to 150 calls in 2021:

  • 85 calls-Station 1- Rte. 20 Corridor
  • 65 calls-Staion 2- Skyline trail/East River Rd Corridor
  • 92 Rescue and Emergency Medical Service Incidents
  • 11 Structure Fires, including Mutual Aid to neighboring towns
  • 10 Motor Vehicle Accidents
  • 2 Chimney Fires
  • 4 Brush Fires
  • 1 Vehicle Fire
  • 7 False Alarms
  • 9 Hazardous condition, no fire
  • 10 Good Intent and Service
  • 4 Severe Weather and natural disaster

As the new year begins, we would like to take this opportunity to say that we take pride in serving the citizens of Chester and to invite anyone who is interested in serving along with us on the Fire Dept. to take the initiative to do so. We will work with you to get you the proper training within the time you have available. Please consider this opportunity and we look forward to a safe and a Happy New Year for you and for us!!!!!

Respectfully submitted,
Chester Vol. Fire Dept.
