5/13/20 – Coronavirus Update from Town Administrator and Selectmen

DATE: May 13, 2020 at 10:00am
FROM: Town Administrator and Selectmen

At Monday night’s meeting the Selectmen made the decision not to hold the Memorial Day Parade. Instead there will be a combination for Veterans Day and we hope everyone will join in that day.

Starting today there will be jersey barriers placed on the Main Street bridge. This is being done under orders of MA DOT. The barriers will help stabilize the bridge and then it will be re-inspected. The barriers will be up for a while, so please be patient.

Good news!!! We have had no new cases in a week and the State numbers for both new cases and hospitalizations have dropped. On Monday May 18th, Governor Baker will release his plan for the reopening in the state. We will share this after it is announced.

We have to thank everyone in Town for all they did to help keep the numbers of positive cases low. Chester is a very lucky community.

Thank you and please keep you the recommended distances, hand washing, taking care of yourself and those around you.
