Monday morning the Water Department became aware of a report of discolored water. We reached out to learn of any other reports and visually checked water at various sites….finding no issues.
This morning at 0900, we began review of this incident, including testing, sampling, and cleaning of dosing meters.
Last week we had operational challenges including failure of the potable water tank & pump. At the same time we attempted to improve operating efficiency of the three raw water pumps that lift water 50′ from Austin Reservoir to the filter beds. This required exercising intake control valves. We believe these events combined to intake sediment into the system, causing discoloration.
Discolored water is a concern we share, and we continue to search for solutions. We will closely monitor.
