Please Make Chester Count – 2020 Census

In 2020, the U.S. must count everyone in the country, it is called the U.S. Census. The U.S. Census will decide how much state and federal dollars are sent to our area for a wide range of programs. Some of the programs that use Census data include:

  • School Funding, Head Start
  • Mass Health, Medicare & Medicaid
  • Fuel Assistance
  • Road Assistance, Public Works projects

In addition to funding, the U.S. Census is used to determine Chester’s representatives in Congress and the Massachusetts legislature. If you do not fill out the U.S. Census, these programs could lose money in our area (approximately $2,300.00 per person) and we can lose seats in Congress and the Massachusetts Legislature. We need you to be counted!

What Is the 2020 Census?

2020 Census
The 2020 Census counts every person living in the United States and five U.S. territories. Each home will receive an invitation to respond to a short questionnaire—online, by phone, or by mail. Watch this new Public Service Announcement (PSA) by the U.S. Census Bureau to learn more about what the 2020 Census is, why it’s written in the U.S. Constitution, and why it’s important.
