UPDATE FROM THE WATER DEPARTMENT – July 23, 2024

Your Water Commissioners have been working to address the water situation in Chester. We have been in contact with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, Massachusetts Rural Water, and the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency to notify them of our situation with the water discoloration.

The Water Commissioners have spoken with the Town Administrator, Emergency Management Director, and members of the Selectboard, again, to keep them informed about the ongoing situation.

We are still awaiting the results of water sample testing taken July 15 and additional sampling taken today. The results will be shared publicly as soon as they are made available to us.

We will also continue flushing fire hydrants and exercising valves.

We want to assure you that our most recent testing confirms no bacteria in the water samples.

The Water Commissioners have a meeting scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, 7/24/24, with MA DEP, and will provide an update after the meeting. Please refer to the News section of the town website for updates.

Thank you.
