Assistant Assessor Clerk (Temporary)

The Town of Chester is looking for a temporary Assistant Assessor Clerk. This is a part-time, non-benefited position working with the Assessor Clerk. This position will run from time of hire to the end of the calendar year. The purpose of this position is to cover the current Assessors Clerks medical leave. Prior to October 1st this would be 4 hours a week split between Monday and Tuesday. October 1st through December 31st it would be 8 hours a week. The current hourly rate for this position is $15 per hour.

Water Commissioner

Candidate should be a Chester resident. Preference will be given for individuals with experience in the drinking water supply sector and for being a Chester water customer. Appointments will be made at the Board of Selectman Meeting on June 17, 2024. Appointment runs from July 1, 2024 until Town Election Day in 2025.

Then, if the individual wants, they may run for a full 3-year term on the Water Commission.

Lineman Supervisor

Chester Municipal Electric Light Dept. is currently seeking an experienced Lineman Supervisor. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operations of the line crew and report to the General Manager.

Primary role responsibilities include scheduling daily work for the line crew and overseeing the successful completion of such work; maintenance & construction of primary overhead power distribution systems; necessary tree trimming to maintain lines; maintenance & construction of secondary overhead lines; installing and removing meters; planning & estimating line construction; care & maintenance of line trucks and related equipment, care & maintenance of town streetlights; training & instruction of back-up personnel; mutual aid to other Massachusetts Municipal Electric Departments; and scheduling and attendance of classes and safety meetings.

Position requires equivalent of HS Diploma, completion of apprenticeship program & min. of 2 years related electric line experience. Must possess Mass. CDL License, Class 1B & 2A or 2B Hoisting License. Salary contingent on qualifications & experience.

Appointment of final candidate will be contingent upon results of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, criminal & motor vehicle record checks and a physical exam; costs for these pre-placement requirements to be paid by CMELD.
